Does anyone know how to get Win10 to set Cimco as the default to open pst files? I hate windows 10.

Paresolid Kernel Interface Error involving Arcs in Geometry
Hi,
I'm trying to extrude a solid and keep getting the following error:
Parasolid Kernel Interface Error
PK Error Code 547
Non-Manifold Body or Boundary.
My shape is essentially a rectangular block with a square notch on one side. The notch has a fillet radius at both inside corners.
If my geometry excludes the fillet radii, the solid is created just fine.
If I attempt to create the solid with fillet radii in the notch, I get the error.
Analyzing the chain reveals no issues (one chain, 8 entities, 0 overlapping entities and 0 direction changes)
Since the problem seems to be with the geometry, I've been trying different methods to construct the fillet radii, i.e. arc tangent, and fillet. The results are the same
Either way, If I attempt to have Mastercam join the entities which make up the notch (using join entities), the results are always the same 'Selected entities cannot be joined'.
Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks!

2017 MC trick
Just a little functionality I stumbled across today that can help with the cumbersome 2017 tabs functionality - if you hold your cursor over the tabs bar the scroll wheel of your mouse can be used to scroll along the tabs, pretty quick.

Creating Custom Tools from Geometry
Has anybody had any success with this... I heard you could do it in 2017 but I can not find anything in 2017 that shows how to do this??
Finding level entity is on
If you have a lot of levels with a bunch of entities in each one. Is there any way to select an entity, solid, or surface and figure out what level it is on without manually turning off levels until you figure it out?
funny graphics thing between work and home
so i have a pretty decent laptop i use at work. i do not intend to replace it any time soon. i have it set up the way i want, you all know that process all to well i would imagine. any who, it's about 2 years old and has a gtx970 in it. so, when creating planes i always click on the gnomon in the lower left and then use the dialogue to set it up. every time i hover over it the entire viewport goes solid black and the only thing i can see is the gnomon and it stay black until i slide off of it or i click it. i recently built a new pc for myself at home, (thanks awbade for spec'ing it out for me). any who, i finally got to sit down and use it, actually use it tonight. i have a gtx 1080 and when i hover over it, it kinda freaked me out because i'm totally accustomed to screen going black at this point. in fact, i assumed that was intentional by cnc when one clicks this.
does any one else get the black screen when you hover over the gnomon?
Useful Windows stuff
So, I use snipit all the time. Well, I recently browsed to that folder to pin it to my taskbar like I always do and couldn't help but play with the other stuff there. There is one I find very interesting. The "Steps Recorder" seems to have the potential to be very useful. You turn it, click rcord and it takes a full screenshot of both monitors and records them to a "sheet" with the sequence then you can edit it. The save format is .zip.
Thought maybe some of you guys that help a lot here would find it useful.
Also, this is one I forgot. While you're there, go in the system tools folder and check out the character map. It'll let you type all the special characters with out having to remember the alt+ keys. It will also tell you what alt+ keys generate the character you hover over. You can use them by double clicking and hitting copy and then pasting or you can just drag them over to your input field.
G18 G19 used with G43 tool length offset Fagor 8055M
No problem calibrate and use tool length table and G43 to turn on length comp..
So far so good.
Now my problem is that this is a five axis machine and if my current plane is not G17 (XY) then the G43 makes it try to cut way away from where it is supposed to..
Well my previous program for this part had only drill paths on the YZ and XZ planes so I could just simply take out the G18 or G19 and it would work.
Now the customer wants a odd sized hole here and there so I am using a circular contour path. With the arc moves I can not take out the G18 or G19 planes. I do not want to add any more toolchanges.
Is there a way in V9 to make G18 or G19 arc moves output as line segment moves.
In other words I do not want G18 or G19 arc moves.
OR can I turn off G43 length comp. in these operations then back on for the ones that work with G43 on.
The code is posted using the pivot lengths of all tools. So the NC program calculates the required position not the control.
Linear to ID/OD feed rate convertion
I don't have access to CNC's MasterCAM forums so Ill just post it here.
I know its a simple conversion but it would be even easier if we had this as an option after finding the linear feed to convert it to an ID or OD adjustment.
X+ 2017 (Public Beta 4)
Hi guys,
X+ build with SDK for 2017 beta 4.

Also, if you are interested, two chooks for fixtures. (they are not translated yet).
One chook for loading fixtures to your part.
One chook to setup fixtures.

All chooks are available in the chooks/X+ folder ; or customize your ribbon bars and add the chooks.
Edit:
NetHook to help finding chains geometries
Hi,
I just made a NetHook which can be helpful for others so i share it. It automatically sets levels visible from 2D chain based milling toolpaths operations selected. After you finished alter what you needed, you can restore your original level settings. You can select any operations in operation manager but it will only show 2D milling chainbased operations.Due to NetHook API limitations:- it can't be used to show 2D HSM toolpaths chains or 3D toolpaths chains (limits).- it will display chains from solids and 'point' chains(lead-in/out in 2D contour f.e.) in 'chains' listbox but it won't filter levels for theses chains
Here is a video showing its use:

Forcing MCX to select edges, etc
Hey guys, using MCX9. Is there a way to force Mastercam to select an edge only without going into the filter options? For example, I have a simple extruded 'bar' no wireframe, solid only. So I want to put a dimension on the OD and Mastercam continually wants to grab the center of the piece instead of the edge. If I wiggle the mouse around it sometimes will grab the edge, but for some reason this particular part took forever to get to the edge instead of the centerpoint. Appreciate any help.
thanks, Mike
dprnt using i/o channel 9 (ethernet)
Long story, was using i/o channel 4 to output my renishaw probe report. but it appears out memory card slot is fried and wont be getting fixed until next week. Im curious of other ways to get my data report like using channel 9 for the embedded ethernet? which this machine has. I cant use the rs232 port. any advise? ive read you cant use channel 5 for the data server.
DPRNT Using
Hello guys..
I would like know.. how can I get the cycle time of each job file in CNC machine?
and after we get the value from the job.. we store in computer by serial communication C:\ ... we can do this?

#100=2(Start of file)

part program

#103=(Total time)

Blind hole manufacturing
How do you guys manufacture blind holes with tight diameter tolerances?
We drill and line bore slightly deeper than print to make room for the chamfer on the reamer and chips. One of our customers just rejected some parts because of the small multiple depths in the bottom of the hole. They quoted us Y14.5M about the depth, but it doesn't control manufacturing of a feature and says nothing about going slightly deeper. The part is for Honeywell and we've done hundreds of Honeywell parts for our other customers and we've never had a complaint about how we manufacture blind holes.
Just looking for opinions and what not.
